The founder of Yogini Cuisine, Sarah Willis, is dedicated to her Yoga practice and amazed by its ability to heal and integrate peak physical condition with equanimity. She has been an avid practitioner of Jivamukti Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and a student of the Sanskrit language since 1997. She has been blessed and inspired by truly gifted teachers, among them: Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sharon Gannon & David Life, Eddie Stern, Richard Freeman and Manorama. In 1999, Sarah learned the technique of Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka. In 2000 she was certified as a Jivamukti Yoga instructor. She traveled to India in 2001 for a period of 5 months to study with Sri K Pattabhi Jois, and fully embraced the study of Ashtanga Yoga. Sarah has also completed three teacher trainings (two of them at the advanced level) with Richard Freeman, and was honored to serve as his workshop assistant at Kripalu in 2005 and 2006. In 2011, while pregnant with her son, Sarah was formally trained to teach Prenatal Yoga by Mia Borgatta and Eden Fromberg, DO.
Sarah’s teaching history spans international borders. For over a decade she taught at top Yoga and fitness centers in New York City, including the Jivamukti Yoga Center and Equinox Fitness Clubs. She has volunteered with the World Education Endeavor’s programs for youth in Brooklyn and with seniors as a part of programs sponsored by City Parks Foundation. She was the director of teacher training at Nava Yoga Studio in Zagreb, Croatia from 2008 – 2010, and led Ashtanga Yoga retreats annually to Maya Tulum (Mexico) between 2009 - 2013.
Having addressed her own hypo-thyroid condition through Yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation, Sarah teaches workshops demonstrating the power one has to balance one’s own body systems through Yoga and proper diet. She also consults with clients on the topic of inviting fertility and manifesting the grace of the sacred feminine in their lives. Currently you can take her classes in Rhinebeck, NY at Satya Yoga Center, and in Hudson, NY at Sadhana Center for Yoga & Meditation.
